    Rebecca Heavner, MLA, is an illustrator, designer, artist and full-time instructor of illustration at the University of Colorado Denver, where she teaches courses on Drawing, Digital Media, Spatial Thinking, Conceptual Illustration and Professional Practice. As a full-time illustrator, she worked with clients in advertising, design and publication markets. She has been recognized with many publication, product and advertising awards from American Illustration, The Art Directors Club of Washington DC, Society of Publication Designers, Communication Arts, HOW magazine, Print Magazine, The Society of Illustrators, American Institute of Graphic Arts, and American Advertising Federation (ADDYs).

    Becky holds a Master of Landscape Architecture degree and merit award from the American Society of Landscape Architects. She worked as a designer in the office of Michael Vergason Landscape Architects in Alexandria, Virginia and Chroma Design in Boulder, Colorado. Throughout her illustration career, she has been a regular contributing illustrator for The Washington Post and other major magazines and newspapers. One of her most highly visible projects was illustrations for the Whole Body/Whole Foods store in New York City. Currently, she has an interdisciplinary studio practice that spans between illustration, fine art installation, and landscape architecture–and includes critical scholarly writing on representation, landscape and media. Currently she is contributing to a book on conceptual illustration, A Companion to Illustration, Wiley Blackwell (USA) 2018.
