    Sam McGuire received a Master of Science degree in Recording Arts, Pedagogy Track in 2004 from the University of Colorado and a Bachelor of Arts in Music with an emphasis in Sound Recording and Tuba Performance from Brigham Young University.​

    McGuire's research and creative work are focused in three primary areas: sampling, post-production, and composition. In addition to two books for Focal Press, his music and audio mixes have been broadcast internationally and are featured on award winning films. Sampled instruments have been released worldwide in partnership with PreSonus and www.original-music.co.uk. Additional software training titles authored by McGuire have been released through VTC.com to a worldwide audience. He also assisted Martin Walters on Ladysmith Black Mambazo's Long Walk to Freedom, which reached number one on the world charts in early 2006 and was nominated for two Grammys.​​
